Kindness Ambassadors

‘Even the smallest act of kindness helps’

In September, children from Year 6 were invited to complete an application to become a Kindness Ambassador. 24 children were successfully appointed. Their first task was to think of their own motto:

This is an important role that involves actively spreading kindness around the school through a series of secret kindness missions, supporting others and leading the school’s strategy of mental health and wellbeing. Kindness Ambassadors help to support children with friendship issues on the playground and are a ‘voice’ for children who need help and have difficulty asking for it. They even write a short section of our monthly newsletter!

Meet the Kindness Ambassadors

Working Lunches

Every month we have a ‘working lunch’ which consists of a meeting with the Kindness Ambassadors. We discuss what is working well as a Kindness Ambassador; new ideas and initiatives; charitable work; ideas for assemblies; we’ve revamped the school rules; completed work on the Werrington Principles and much more.

The ‘working lunch’ is a means of empowering the Kindness Ambassadors with school issues and giving them a forum to express themselves, working together to continually improve the outcomes for children at Werrington Primary School.

Plastic Awareness Assembly

Some of our Kindness Ambassadors researched the topical theme of plastic pollution in our oceans.  Following this research and the frightening results, they felt that they needed to share their knowledge with others, so they devised their own assembly and delivered it to the whole school.

Action for Happiness

Kindness Ambassadors use resources from the ‘Action for Happiness’ website.

http://www.actionforhappiness.org/about-us

Action for Happiness is a movement of people committed to building a happier and more caring society. Action for Happiness want to see a fundamentally different way of life – where people care less about what they can get just for themselves and more about the happiness of others. This is something that we also believe at Werrington Primary School.

Each month the Kindness Ambassadors, along with the rest of the school, follow the Action for Happiness daily tasks to promote kindness:
